Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS)

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Pathways

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways are evidence-based multidisciplinary programs utilizing standardized multimodal perioperative care to achieve early recovery in patients undergoing surgery and improve patient outcomes. One key focus of ERAS includes the use of multimodal, opioid-sparing approaches for pain management. Organizations such as ERAS, Procedure-specific Postoperative Pain Management (PROSPECT) group, and American Society for Enhanced Recovery (ASER) provide guidelines on procedure-specific ERAS pathways for postoperative recovery and pain management.1

ERAS is designed to:

  • Attenuate patient stress2
  • Maintain preoperative bodily compositions and organ function2
  • Integrate throughout the perioperative pathway3
  • Maintain physiologic function2
  • Facilitate (early) postoperative recovery2
  • Reduce complications and length of stay3
  • Increase value by reducing and improving quality of care2,3

Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) and Grants

Pacira remains committed to providing non-opioid pain management and regenerative health solutions dedicated to advancing and improving outcomes for health care practitioners and their patients. To that end, Pacira provides grants for IITs, independent educational grants, and grants in support of medical missions/charitable donations.

Pacira supports IITs by parties interested in pursuing research in our therapeutic areas of interest. These research trials provide valued information on the safety, efficacy, pharmacology, and tolerability of the company’s marketed products.
